Wisdom of the Body: Somatic Conflict Resolution

Dates: Wednesdays, April 10-May 15, from 6 - 7:30pm

At the Story Parlor

227 Haywood Rd, Asheville, NC

Explore your body's response to conflict and develop skills for self-regulation and improved communication by listening to and understanding your body's needs. Through this journey, you'll discover your conflict style and its connection to your nervous system, empowering you to express yourself with clarity and compassion even in emotional or triggered states. By coming into relationship with your felt sense of boundaries, developing skills to map out emotion and sensation, and utilizing strategies to both self regulate and co-regulate with one another, participants can have greater access to self expression and a felt sense of safety.

  • Through engaging partner activities, you'll learn to track your body's responses in conversaion and during “conflicts”. In subsequent sessions, we'll explore needs, boundaries, and different conflict styles, offering practical exercises and role-playing to enhance your communication skills and self-awareness.

As we progress, you'll learn to work with your nervous system and conflict style and discover effective tactics for resolving conflicts both internally and externally. Our final session will feature group brainstorming and role-play activities to equip you with tangible strategies for managing conflicts and fostering healthier relationships.

We will end our time together with a potluck gathering, sharing circle, and celebration of newfound insights and growth. Optional take-home activities will be provided throughout for further reflection and practice.
